The VoxTerrae Layer
- Profiles, reactions, threaded replies and "who else is here" between VoxTerrae users, on top of plain EFnet. Everyone else sees ordinary IRC; a reply also posts a short > <nick> quote… line so classic clients can follow.
- Your nick is verified once per session with a one-time code that cablepair sends you over IRC (a NOTICE the client consumes). Identity is an Ed25519 key made on your machine (layer_key in the profile folder). No account, no email, no password.
- What leaves your computer: your nick, a 12-character hash of each message you send (room, nick, normalized text, minute), your reactions, the profile you write, images you upload. Message text and private messages never do. /layer wipe erases everything.
- Hover Reply and React now work in every room. New commands: /profile [nick|edit], /layer status|verify|off|wipe, /upload path.png (images kept 30 days). Members menu: VoxTerrae profile. A one-screen consent appears at first launch; Settings → Layer turns it off.
- Also in this release (0.2.0, never shipped as a build): the project-run HOME network is retired; VoxTerrae connects to EFnet only and auto-joins exactly one room, #warheatmap.
- Provenance attestation from the public GitHub Actions release workflow; verify with gh attestation verify. Not code-signed (SmartScreen notice once).
